Frequently asked questions

Why won't my iPhone photos open on my computer?

iPhones save photos as HEIC by default. Windows needs an extra codec to open HEIC, and many apps and websites don't support it at all. Converting to JPG gives you a file that opens everywhere.

Does converting HEIC to JPG reduce quality?

The JPG is saved at 90% quality, which looks the same as the original for normal viewing and printing. Expect the JPG to be larger than the HEIC file, because JPG compresses less efficiently.

Can I convert several HEIC photos at once?

Yes. Add up to 6 photos per batch and download them all with one click. For more photos, just run another batch.

Can I stop my iPhone from saving photos as HEIC?

Yes. Go to Settings › Camera › Formats and choose “Most Compatible”. New photos will be saved as JPG; photos you've already taken stay HEIC, so convert those here.

What happens to my files?

Uploaded files are deleted from our server within seconds of conversion, and converted files are removed automatically within about 15 minutes. We don't keep copies.
