Frequently asked questions
Does converting JPG to PNG improve quality?
No. It can't restore detail that JPG compression already removed, but it stops any further loss when you edit and save the image again.
Will the background become transparent?
No. JPG has no transparency, so the PNG keeps the same background. To cut out the subject, use our Remove Background tool.
Why is the PNG larger than the JPG?
PNG stores every pixel losslessly, so it's usually several times larger than a JPG of the same photo.
What happens to my files?
Uploaded files are deleted from our server within seconds of conversion, and converted files are removed automatically within about 15 minutes. We don't keep copies.
