Frequently asked questions
Which images can I convert to JPG?
JPG, PNG, WEBP, AVIF, GIF, TIFF and SVG. For iPhone HEIC photos use our HEIC to JPG converter, and for BMP files use BMP to JPG.
Does converting to JPG reduce quality?
JPG uses lossy compression. We save at 90% quality, where the difference from the original is very hard to see, while the file is usually much smaller. Avoid re-saving the same JPG over and over, as each save loses a little more detail.
What happens to transparent backgrounds?
JPG can't store transparency, so transparent areas become white. If you need to keep transparency, convert to PNG or WEBP instead.
What happens to my files?
Uploaded files are deleted from our server within seconds of conversion, and converted files are removed automatically within about 15 minutes. We don't keep copies.
