Frequently asked questions

Why convert WEBP to PNG?

Some image editors, office apps, printers and upload forms don't support WEBP yet. PNG works almost everywhere and is lossless, so it's a safe format for editing.

Does WEBP to PNG keep the transparent background?

Yes. If the WEBP has transparency, the PNG keeps the same alpha channel.

Will the PNG look better than the WEBP?

No. Converting can't restore detail that lossy WEBP compression already removed, but the PNG won't lose anything more. It will usually be a larger file than the WEBP.

Does it work with animated WEBP files?

Only the first frame of an animated WEBP is converted, so you get a still PNG image.

What happens to my files?

Uploaded files are deleted from our server within seconds of conversion, and converted files are removed automatically within about 15 minutes. We don't keep copies.
