Why do images download as WEBP?

Many websites serve WEBP because it loads faster. When you save the image, you get the .webp file the site delivered.

What happens to transparency?

JPG can't store transparency, so transparent areas become white. Use WEBP to PNG if you need to keep it.

Does it work with animated WEBP?

Only the first frame is converted, giving you a still JPG.

What happens to my files?

Uploaded files are deleted from our server within seconds of conversion, and converted files are removed automatically within about 15 minutes. We don't keep copies.
